I love this keyboard it has a lot of great sounds. The only thing that would make it better is if were touch sensitive.

If Yamaha had left the MIDI implementation alone and made the keyboard velocity sensitive it would be OK, the sounds aren't all that bad. It's got the PSR 510 Piano sound at least. The thing reminds me of the old PSR's that had shitloads of LED's everywhere, plus the shitty MIDI and non-velcocity makes the thing seem even more dated. I hate the thing; get the original PSRD1-DJX for half the money and get five times the keyboard.

It's a wonderful synth, for professional use! That is if you can't afford anything better (like DX-1 for instance, heh). I use it for some kick ass ambient pads, but I didn't (and couldn't) create those kind of sounds myself. It's pretty difficult to edit without a computer (but I haven't used a computer editor). It could be a great addition to your setup if you need FM type of sounds but certainly not your only synth although I could still imagine a good demo made only with DX7II. Find good soundbanks for it!

Kev Man a part-time user from Pittsburgh, Pa USA writes:
I bought the DJX II to tide me over till i gathered enough cash for a bigger keyboard. Its not a bad machine. I wouldnt reccomend it for professionals but a hobbyist or total novice would like it. Its mainly for house type music and not a lot of high end customization can be done. The sampling is sub standard and the timing for the beats and accompanyment is absolute, so you could easily mess your tempo up if you hit the wrong key at the wrong time.

Id say give it to your kid or nephew who is older than 12 but dont expect to produce your demo tape with it.
