I recently brought my IIB to have the Live Effector knob fixed at a high end synth repair shop. I literally tripped over Korg Tritons and MPCs as I shamefully put the silver & black bat box on the counter. (I probably could have bought another one off e-bay for the same price but that's not the point is it). The tech there apparently had a blast with it as he remembered who I was when I walked in.
I said apologetically "I know the MIDI out is non existent" and he looked at me like, "this thing has MIDI".
You can isolate the various pattern parts on MIDI channel 4 with any cheapo Radioshack controller keyboard.
Anyway, the reason why I fixed the knob on the DSP effects is because (although I love and use all of the other features) this is a great effects box to run other MIDI gear through. Granted, you then have to run the IIB through its RCA outs but then you run the red & whites through something else :).
Yamaha will no doubt give up on this concept. No one will have the guts to go there again absent an actual turntable on the thing. It is limited but isn't all gear in some fashion.
These things are holding their value (they didn't sell for much new). After most of the people have gotten drunk and pissed on them and hit them with hammers they may actually be worth something in a few years. You laugh but I have seen the casio rapman get props on at least one vintage synth website, not to mention the early casio samplers.
Until then, i'll be scratching away on mine.
