I have not had the pleasure yet of the DJX2b, but I am thinking about it, judging from the reviews here it seems 50 / 50. I dj as a hobby and in clubs occassionally I play acid techno, and what I want is the ability to add things in to my mixes samples / sounds / basslines / etc. What I want to know is will this do the job or is it really a waste of cash, can anyone recommend an alternative option without going into the technical stuff because I do not understand it.

Also does anyone know can I get the effects I want from a 303 - the real acid master.

Cheers Lee

Hey there folks, I found the DJX2 to be completely useful in blowing the minds of the friends of mine who come over my house to trip out and listen to me play. The ease of use when it comes to the build up's allows me to join them in mind expansion while I jam out! Worth the 200.00 I paid

DJ JD a hobbyist user writes:
I bought the IIB because I always wanted to scratch ever since I heard Herbie Hancock's Rockit. In other words, longer than most of you have been born. Anyway, I have had the IIB for about 2 months now and I can see why some say it sux. I already had a Radioshack Concertmate 990 and a CD MP3 player. With just those two pieces of gear and a mixer, I have spent many a night adding drum kits to rock songs or scratching to others. The cool thing about the IIB is that I have been able to hook the 990 up to it via MIDI, hook the CD player to it (for BPM) with a split cable and have the IIB run through the same line-in as the output line on the 990. Thus, I can play the keyboard through the IIB via MIDI (and add all 10 effects) and play the drum pads via MIDI that sync with the IIB pattern. ON the same channel, I run the output from the keyboard. Because the drum kits on the 990 are non-midi, when I change the tone, it keeps the MIDI setting but will still play the drum kits. THus, with the flick of the switch on the mixer, I can play the full drum kit over a song on the CD or play the IIB (with the MIDI keyboard). And, with the CD synced to the IIB, you just fade to that between songs and the BPM matches.

However, given that, I recognize that I am a frustrated DJ at heart and I have just bought a Crate DJ Battle Mix kit ($170) and a VT 1 ($150). My friend has and old Ensoniq Mirage that I am trying to pry loose but I will buy the SP-202 soon.
