I saw one of these in a shop this weekend. It looks pretty fun - probably more so if you are 8-14 though I would think. the controls don't look like they'll take much pounding so I would think you'd need to be gentle - I prefer the DJX, it seems (only just) to be less of a toy and at least has a keyboard.

To be fairm this wasn't supposed to be a serious musical instrument but it does have some usefulness to some. The Suzuki Omnichord wasn't suppoesed to be that either but you'll find it in some well known synthesists arsenals.

Who cares if it's a toy, if it does something for you then that's ok isn';t it?

Actually it doesnt sound too bad thru the external outputs, your right its got the same sound engine as the DJXII keyboard, i think it would work better w the orginal DJX then the 2..

Yeah, this thing belongs in Toy R Us or in the stocking of a 9th grader...its pretty cheesy but thats the fun part of this machine..you can take that cheese and do a lot with it! The effects and the filters are sooo controllable & fun. I could've returned it but i hooked it up to the Laptop w the Pattern Launcher software and it plays files just fine, basically this thing is a $199 Midi module w effects and filters. I bet they come out w a semi-pro version in 2001. DJX3B or RM2x? I know FM only gave it a 82 but i'm gonna keep this one 4 the fun of it!

This toy is fine for elementary school kids as a Christmas present from the 'rents... but has no real purpose beyond this. I was buying a compressor at my local store when they were demo'ing this thing to some Urban Outfitters-clothed brat and his mom - it sounded totally weak and unoriginal - not just preset sounds, preset PATTERNS for fuck's sake!

Yamaha has the "junior-high poser" market nailed with this thing.
