Glen Stegner a professional user from USA writes:
Just got back from the annual Saratoga Springs Jazz Festival in upstate New York. Every electric, non-traditional e.g. "smooth jazz" group used one of these as their main board (mainly for rhodes pianos) along with a Triton for organ, synth pads and other stuff. Not a single Roland Fantom in sight, so the comments on Harmony Central about the Fantom not being popular in the professional arena turn out to be correct.

I'm a Korg fan (and owner of an X5 and N264). I want to buy a new synth within a year.

I have to admit I only played on the Korg Triton Extreme for half an hour and not played (yet) on the Yamaha Motif.

However, altough the specs written above favor to the Yamaha, there is one spec detail that is probably making the Yamaha not suited for me.

This spec is the number of parts to use within a combination/performance (or whatever it is called). The Korg can split/stack 8 programs while the Yamaha can only split/stack 4. In a lot of combinations I use I use at least 4.

If Yamaha can change this I would probably buy a Yamaha (because it seems the realistic sounds are better than Korg).

I AGREE WITH YOU MAN. THIS THING IS OVERRATED, THE TRUTH IS THAT THE SOUNDS INSIDE THIS RACK DOESN'T MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE OR MAKE ME SAY "WOW". NOW TO TELL U THE TRUTH BEST RACK YOU COULD BUY AND ITS WORTH EVERY PENNY IS NOT EVEN TRITON KORG, NOR KURZWEIL, BUT (ROLAND XV5080) THIS IS THE REAL DEAL. THE SOUNDS IN THIS MACHINE ARE REALLY BRILLIANT AND FRESH, FOR MY EARS IS THE MOST AUTHENTIC AND REAL INSTRUMENT SAMPLE RACK YET.

I played the motif-rack yesterday and I was not impressed at al. The piano's are bad (you should buy a P80/90/120 for decent piano sounds) and the other sounds are nothing new, I heard it all before. The Korg-trinity that came out years ago sounds better. The motif is way overrated.

_____Heyo, I'm new to these forums, and have been trying to find my way through the sampler/workstation wars. And it is official, Korg folks hate Roland and Yamaha - Yamaha folks hate Roland and Korg's, etc. I am at an absolute loss. One guy says that sound set sucks, and another says the same sound set is the BEST IN RECORDED HISTORY! Someone is exaggerating. _____I am seeking mature opinions that don't seem to resonate with the spirit of Pachino's Scar face character. Now, if you will excuse me, I have to go shoot a guy for giving my favorite plug-in a 7 out of a possible 10 review. Cause I have a healthy and mature perspective on life's greater and more pertinent issues and am absolutely sure that comic book characters are more real than actual people._____

Blessings, Poet _____

Ps. My inability to spell correctly does in no way suggest I lack intelligence. My lack of intelligence is completely non spelling related.
