I have just got an the Motif ES. The functions for multi-part use are great(maybe the best of all synths now). The sounds are not too far from those of the classic motif. If you expected the apparent progress in sound quality, you would be disappointed. We should understand that it is new and powerful but still the Motif, which means that the classic Motif is still valuable and can be your choice even after the ES comes.

Greetings Fellow Artists,

I'm probably the only female (or perhaps 1 of a few) to give a review here and mine is on the Motif Rack. All I can say is......it's superb!! I'd considered purchasing a Triton until I sampled the Motif Rack. I discovered that the Motif (in my opinion), has better sounds across the board and is simple to use. It's perfect for film scoring and for programming R&B and Hip-Hop grooves.

This lady loves the Motif and would recommend it highly as a should-own item for any studio. The Triton is not out of the picture for me, it's just not in the foreground. At some point though, I'll probably own it too along with the Roland XV5080. For the cost and quality, the Motif can't beat!

Also, I can attest to Cubase having latency issues. Trust me. It's not the keyboard.

Piano is first love, yet synths provide the magic that love for the sound project. I touched the motif and WOW it happened the world all bottled up came to pass like a picture no words could express.

Motif is a good keyboard, better than the korg hype (I think Keio Organ (Korg) should learn from their old brother, Yamaha).

Anyway, I still feel that motif lacks 2 main features:

1) scene morphing...this feature exists in their cs6x and an1x, but not in motif (correct me if i am wrong)

2) polyphony: only 64? notes...ofcourse its still better than the korg triton..because unlike triton, yamaha plug in boards give you more synthesis types AND polyphony, not just more rom sounds...Hello Roland!

Anyway, the plus points: 1). the onboard sequencer (way better than on or fantom) is very similar to rm1x (what I had before I sold it). Its solid and powerful, except it doesn't have grid record mode, but step mode is better. It also has all the extensive editing features of the rs7000.

2). controller features are great: 4 knobs, 4 sliders and 16 virtual knobs.

3). The sound quality is really deep, I like it better than triton.

One hint: I own an access virus C, and I use the polyphony of the piano plug in board in addition to the 64 notes, and I use software sequencer (with more polyphony and timbres) than the onboard sequencer. It makes the motif more useful.

As far as the scene memory features that cs6x,cs2x and an1x enjoy, can anybody tell me if I can achieve it in motif in some way? thanks
