Damn. The Motif blows away any workstation in the market. It sounds so cool. The bass sounds are raelly BIG. Rich and fat FAT FAT sounds.

im glad that i waited till today to write how i feel about the motif. i had the motif for a good two months now. its my first workstation keyboard. i make hip hop or as some say rap beats. all hear is korg this and triton that. so for the price i got the motif but inside i wanted a triton. being this is my first board i wasnt feeling good about the motif cause there just wasnt sounds in it i wanted or really cared about but today i took a trip to a local music center where there was a triton and i just played around with it just to see if the hype was true and see if i made the wrong choice for buying the motif. im glad i pick the motif. i must say the touch screen makes it easy to move around on the triton and there where a few no maybe 10 cool sounds in the triton but hands down i love my motif now. the motif is just the top dog now. the trion classic is just that a classic but old news. motif has that real sound to it. i just love my motif and this is from a guy who would told you a day before i hated it. nobody can tell me that anything out there will sound better than a motif out the box. yea i read that you just got to know how to use this or that workstation or tweak this or that. why should i for 1700 or more it should be already tweak to my standards the motif is just that. i havent heard the the trion studio but for a thousand dollars more i can keep my motif and then get protools for my computer. im from the hood dog. i make street beats and the motif sometimes sounds sexier than the real thing. the funny thing is i havent even broke out the book. so at this point if its number one i know its gona be even more better once i know what im doing

Audio quality -excellent Synth engene -awesome Choice of on-board waveforms -bad: S30 is better in this point. Sampling -good Sequencer -OK:less practical than QY but no trouble without sync FX -excellent SCSI sample transaction -OK(good with real fast drive) Expandability -good

I have quite a few synths, I never really use MIDI base keyboards before. After I heard this thing and played around with it in the music store, My mate and I have decided to use this one on my next album. The sweeps and filters sounds as fat as my analogue synths. The drums are amazing, although I never used sample based sounds with my previous projects.

I just bought the motif two weeks ago. I must admit that i agree with the low polyphony problem. This is the same problem I've had with keyboards since the early 90's. One would think that after 10 years of light growing technology that these companies could figure oput a way to affordably increase the polyphony. I know that this can be solved through resampling, but with the heavy amount of sequencing I do, I really need a board that can do what I tell it without having to constantly resample. I am not giving up on it yet. Maybe after figuring out the sampler more (I am new to sampling in general) I will find that it is a simple process and worth the hassle. On the other hand, if I can't figure this thing out a little better within the next couple of weeks, then i'm returing it and swapping out for the Triton Studio. I know it is about a thousand bucks more, but it seems like a really great machine and the interface is awesome. I have a friend that bought one as soon as it came out and he said that he has not had to use his computer sequencer or sampler once. That is what I am looking for. I need to be able keep all my music in my "portable" keyboard, instead of having to lug around a computer.
