Greatest synth that I have owned. I purchased it for the sounds and they are great. Having great sounds combined with sampling and sequencing just adds frosting on the cake. In addition the Yamaha support has been better than any other company that I have dealt with in the last 20 plus years. Since purchasing this keyboard and seeing what a great Company Yamaha is, I will definitely consider any Yamaha products before looking elsewhere!

The MOTIF, on its own is an outstanding all-in-one workstation with excellent sounds and editing capabilities. Sequencer/sampler work well and are easy to learn. If you want a machine to really spend some hours tweeking and mico-editing until your eyes fall out--GET the Motif. Presets only go so far(these are very good though) and anyone who's serious about making their own custom sounds and songs can spend hours with the Motif and not even begin to utilize its power and options. (just avoid the Smart Media(slow) and 1GB Jaz(disks won't format)-- 2GB Jaz works great--Plug in boards are an eventual must--expands polyphony to 256). (Ck out www.8thstreet.com i got one there for $1649)

I have the motif7 model. It sounds great and the sequencer is easy and powerful. it have the best sounds of S30 and Ex5/7 powered with a good sampler. I'm complitely satisfied specially for the rock organs and the EPianos. I went to the shop to buy a Korg triton and...

Well, if you believe it or not the first time I heard and played the motif I said I have to buy it. I mean if you really listen to the sounds they will get into your mind so deep that youll be in trance. Well at least thats what happened to me. I tried it out for 4hrs at the store, until the owner got pretty should i say, angry. And then the awesome possibilities a sampler and seqencer all in one gave me such a creativity boost man man...I think I am writing a little weird here but dont trust me listen to it for yourself. The only things which I dont like that it doesnt really have any good leads, but if you add an Virus Indigo than you will have all the sounds you need. Also more realtime controls would be nice I love to twist those knobs.
