This is one of the greatest machines ever. It has blown my mind. i use mainly the MPC 2000. I am getting rid of that machine since I can use those samples and make better songs. This is my first synth and my last. Yamaha has truly won me over. THe sampling, sequencing, sounds and music creation ability is awesome. I love it.

Love it

Sorry but the Motif sounds better than the EX-5! Take it from a guy who has it all, the acoustic piano is much more happing and the drum grooves blow the EX-5 away. The EX-5 is a great synth too, but the Motif is much more of a machine!

ive always liked yamaha, i mean if they can make keyboards and motorcycles, theyr doing something right. The interface rules, enough realtime control, and the machine is very deep, the sounds, rule. and the sequencer rocks, its like the one in the rm1x, so you have overdub, replace, and step, the step record shows a 16 step grid on the screen so you can visually see what you doing, not like the tracker style step that the mpc's have. And its expandable soo much, plg cards, and the fact that you can hook a 31 gig hard drive to it, and it as a full blown sampler, and midi, and patch storage. I have no need for my yamaha a3000 anymore
