I enjoyed the psr550. I donot agree with the first response. Granted it's no karma but it does remind me of the sy77, one of my favorite work stations. I have produce excellent work on the 550. The speakers aren't great. For the price a 16 track sequencer is a plus!! Especially for anyone starting out in composing music. It has better quality some professional workstations, such as the roland JW50, Yamaha V50,SQ1 ensoniq,Casio wk1800, and Korg x series. Granted all these keyboards have a much better sequencer and editing ecept for the casio 1800 . All in all an excellent workstation for the money.

I bought the Yamaha PSR-550 when it first came out & to this day it is still (by far) my favorite keyboard I have ever owned or played. First off, it has over 700 sounds (XG included). The sound quality is amazing & the DSP effects are pretty wild too. For the price, it's still the best one on the market. You can record and save songs with the 16 track sequencer & disk drive. The display is bright & you can change the color. The pitch bend wheel is great & doesn't feel like one of those "cheepies" that come with toy keyboards. I would sit here & write about this thing forever, but I gotta go now, & so do you...Go get the Yamaha PSR-550. You will not be dissapointed. Score: 6 out of 5

I'm just starting out with my friends in a band that is a combination of 80's music and new wave punk and i found it was excellent for this. Although lacking in synth type features some of the built in voices are excellent anyway. Overall, for the price, it doesn't get a lot better. Floppy disk drive is excellent, 16-track recorder great, and the sound quality kicks ass. If you are looking for a keyboard packed with features and voices at a very reasonable price, go get it.
