My first midi device was a Yamaha sound module, the TX81Z. Then I got a PSS=480. All back in the '80s, all driven by an Amiga computer. I just loved it!!!!

Now I have a PSR-GX76 hooked into a Midisport 4x4, with a Windows XP laptop. I want to add the PSS-480 and the TX81Z to the system. They aren't general midi, but if I can get .idf (instrument definition files) for them, I can put them in the system. Anyone have these? Or else, where can I get IDFEdit, so I can create my own. It doesn't come with XP.

The first synth I ever owned and the one I miss the most, yeah, even more than my Moog Rogue, Jen SX-1000, Roland SH-9, Casio CZ-101 and EDP Wasp put together. If anyone has one, or knows of one, for sale please get in touch.

This keyboard ROCKS! Admittedly I have nothing to compare it against, but still. I'm not really a big music-mkaing fan but it's great to sit down and just tinker with the "voices" and play little tunes. I've always wondered if it's possible to make the demo song using just the 5 melody and chord banks, unlikely. The one thing I'd like to do with this keyboard is link it up to my PC and use the MIDI features it boasts. Also I don't have a manual for the thing and could really do with a read of it - see if there's anythgin new I can do with it. I read on the "eeggs" site today that there's a test mode. That's fun to play with too (gets a bit boring after abotu a minute.) If anyone was wondering how to do that, all you have to do is hold the top two keys down as you switch it on, the display will be "--- --" which will go to "480 02" or somethgin similar after a few secs. If anyonw knows where I can read a manual online (html or pdf format) I'd be grateful. You can e-mail me at the above address. I've been to a site that just hasd the "midi" section of the manual but I could do with the rest of it too. Anyways, as I was saying this keyboard is VERY cool!

I just scored my Yamaha PSS480 for $15(US). The AC adapter input jack needs to be resoldered to the board. The sounds are well worth what I paid. I bought this to replace my long gone Yamaha PSS140. I love little keyboards. It has been used on RATOBASHER CD.
