i could have traded my yamaha rm1x for an akai mpc500 straight trade but i just could not do it .this machine is crazy man i dont care what people say about the sounds this thing sounds like timberland uses it if you tweak the sounds and man can you mangle shred the sounds there are three effects but you can get 4 guess how there is midi delay MIDI DELAY !!!!!! what groove editing for mpc feel shifting notes and the sounds are crazy you also have a bass boost function 16 track sequencer if you hook a sampler to it you have a super mpc synths and sequencing and sampling together i love it

I had this machine checked out for a couple of days and compared it to others (Roland MC series).

I spent little time with it and must say it's amazingly intuitive, nice big display and loads of functions and FD-drive.

I haven't checked it's full potential but heard some demo's and preset songs/patterns and I like what I heard.

The sequencer alone is gorgious 16 tracks of goodness.

I rate this machine 5/5 already since I got for €180.

What a bargain!

paid $100 for it .i had one b4 and really liked the power of sequencing on it. i am used to the electribe or mc way of working so i have to get used to this. but for 100$ woww! and a disk drive??plus all the songs you get online to see how the unit works..effects are ok .drums are pretty good i like the 16 tracks so you can do sep drum tracks on each one!the mini keys are pain in the ass, sort of not playable more "press hard to play" sort of thing... def worth the $$ i paid!i am getting mc505 used for 225$next wekk so i can a/b them. ca't wait to see...
