I had several ram problems by using many kind of cheap pc memory, so I bought certified ones at my music dealer and it's ok now. RS works also very find with my 128Mo smartmedia card.

Got mine last year. I love it, sequencer, once you get the grip about it, is easy as it can. I am laying down my ideas now faster than with the mouse in my hand. Usually i transfer them into Logic for the last final work and upload them back into the RS. Great work, Yamaha!

???? The RS7000 problems with "memory utilization"????? Never experienced this with my RS, nor does any of the 586members of the RS-mailing-list.
I don�t know if the sound-quality of the RS is compared to the 7�s, i would say they are equal, but you shouldn�t take out of consideration, that you can always tweak on both machines the sounds the way you like them, plus the RS brings in a master-FX and track and master-EQ, which can spice up the sound again, if necessary.
I don�t know anything about the preset-pattern or their usefullness. I don�t use preset-pattern on my RS. The ones that are inside are usefull for any kind of modern music.
m1x+an200+dx200+mc505 well, seems to me, your setup is complete, you should add a sampler, like an EMU Ultra 5000 and some FX-units (Lexicon MPX200, BOSS VF1, Line6 box, Electro Harmonix etc.pp.). Or if you like more the all-in-one concept, get a RS7000. I use mine together also with a DX200 and a AN1x (big brother of AN200), they make a good match.

klaus...thanks for the input. the sampler would seem to push the rs7000 ahead of the 7s in a competitive consideration, but from what i've read it has certain quirks (like large memory utilization) which might make the unit somewhat less competitive. i don't get to play with the sampler in the store, so i can't really judge its effectiveness. any opinion here? also, would you say the sound quality between the 7s and the 7k are equal? how about os problems? the 7s i've had access to all glitched on program change, which made the units unacceptable. i assume this has changed or will at some point after more work is done on the respective os's. what would say about the midi patterns between the 7k and the 7s? style for style which machines are better? is it possible to say one has an advantage in drum&bass while another has an advantage in, say, minimal tekno? right now i use a rm1x+an200+dx200+mc505 groove box to produce the real icey tranzambient with a hint of drum&bass. i sample the mix on a sp808. would any of the new machines provide an advantage over this setup for what i do?
