I own both the RS 7000 and MPC 2000xl. If you like groovebox style then buy an RS 7000. IT is the only professional groovebox on the market. I play live and the RS7000 is by far the best for live performance. The RS 7000 has a more powerful sampler than the MPC and a bunch of great knobs and effects. If you already own a good rack sampler and synths maybe the MPC is best for you. THe MPC does have the best sequencer. In the next year I would watch for 2 new products from Roland and Akai.

best buy...RS7000, weve gigged with it since it came out and it just offers you what you need to control your MIDI-setup on stage. Forget about MPC, lame box, overpriced with bad design flaws.

If in doubt...get the more modern box. The RS7000 has very compact MIDI-editing features the MPC dont offer, plus for this small display on the Akai you need a microscope...;)

The RS offers incredibily much for low money. Compare the specs and get the one with more and better specs...which would be again the RS7000.

I thought the sounds on the RS were great when I demoed it. The features looked incredible. However, almost all the user reviews aren't that positive. Is everyone having some sort of bug problem or another? Does anyone one have one that hasn't given problems? Rock on!

hey greg, it really doesnt sound like you know what your doing. You have to install the right ram, that will make it work easier. Oh and second, you must have only spent a couple of minuits trying to get the su700 to work before you gave up. Of corse it loops!! thats what 8 of the tracks do automaticlly. Good lord did you read the instructions? oh well..........

My review, good box, easy to work, hopefully yamaha will support it with software upgrades. Sounds are o.k. and sampling is ok, but wouldnt it be sooooo much cooler to have a full real sampler i.e. a3000 (not mpc crap)in a box like this? Good box would have ruled in 98, but now i say just get a laptop, reason, cubase (logic/nuendo) and a ton of plugins and youll have a much more powerful system
