Yamaha is working on the OS2.0, will take a few more months, but they will fix the most criticised points.

But besides that, the RS is a very versatile hardware sequencer. I dont want to miss it anymore. The Grid mode (the other grid mode...hehe acutally i mean Grid Groove) is fantastic and really helps you to built some wonderfull swinging loops. Just put the snare e.g. a few ticks behind and woah! Swinging RS! If you dont like software seq. go RS. You wont regret.

THE RS7K IS WITHOUT A DOUBT ONE OF THE MOST USER FRIENDLY TOOLS(NOT A GROOVEBOX)FOR CREATING VERY PRECISE AND INTRICATE SEQUENCES.BE IT A SIMPLE DANCE SONG OR A FULLY GENERATED IDM TRACK.ALSO IVE GOTTEN AMAZING AND ORIGINAL SOUNDS BY JUST TWEAKING THE PITCHES AND FILTERS OF THE INTERNAL SOUNDS, YOU JUST HAVE TO EXPERIMENT WHILE RUNNING YOUR SEQUENCES BACK.AS FOR THE GRID MODE...IVE HAD NO DESIRE WHATSOEVER TO USE THIS METHOD OF RECORDING,AS I FIND STEP AND LIVE COMBINED TO BE THE BEST WAY TO MAKE TRACKS SKITTER WITH DIFFERENT DRUM PATTERNS IN THE BACKGROUND FOR VERY INTELLIGENT PATTERNS AND BREAKS.ANYONE WANTING A GREAT SEQUENCER...THIS IMHO IS THE ONE.

You will be able to hear other tracks in Grid Mode with the upcoming OS-update. Plus if you don't like Grid, use Step-mode or one of teh other four modes.

Stomped a professional user from PAris writes:
"RS kicks seriously ass, and...the sampler is full duplex, means it can play samples, while you record a sample. Try that with the MPC4k...:) " Well actually it CAN Don't diss something just because you can't afford it. Anyway, the RS is a cool alternative to the MPC2000. I love mine but comparing it to an MPC4000 is irrelevant. Definitely not the same league.
