Hey! this RS7000 is the best thing I ever got. It does everything well, sequencer-sampler-synth-fx, all in one, it sounds great and its really easy to use. Why are there so many people here talking about the MPC? Who cares about the MPC ?? Its not the same kind of instrument! I know it probably sounds more "cool" to say you own a MPC but we're here to review the Yamaha RS7000. Peace, thanks!!

Waiting for the mpc4000 (+ dps24) code to be debugged (about a year or two)...and the price to come down from the stars. These will be a real pro-groovebox! However, rs7k (even rm1x + xl-1) ok for me for now. Just grooving on my local rs7k couple of Saturdays ago. Producing much better -dance- stuff than the nearest three people banging away on Tritons and Karmas etc. Now...if I could just get one for under $1K US...

I hear what you're saying Astro! I too spent a good few hours in the local shop checking out the RS. Now, I've taken the plunge & bought one. Personally I feel I can only pass comment on a piece of equipment when I've spent some real time with it at home/studio, whether the comments be good or bad. Before I bought it I also read the reviews here, but wasn't too interested in what people who didn't have one said. U know what I mean??! Peace

I've read some of the postings pro and con on this site, and wanted to through my op in as well... I researched getting a sequencer/phrase sampler/drum machine/midi controller for 6 months before making a decision to get the RS. I looked at, read about, played with, and otherwise checked into everything out these days, as well as some used stuff... I appreciate everyones honest opinions in helping with this decision. I have to say that I am in no way disappointed with the RS. I have some Roland gear, some computer gear, etc.... and for what it is, I'm not sure there even exists a real product to compare to. It sequences, linear and pattern, as well as samples, as well as has tons of built in sounds that I think are much more usable than the current Roland stuff (though I have those as well) for what I do. Any arguments comparing it to the RM1X, which I used to have as well, are mute really. They are internally fairly different machines, with a different target audience. I think comparing it to the Akai MPC is a bit more along the same lines, but the RS has MUCH more control than the MPC, and more sample time. My vote is in --- I will use this every day...

I've had the rs7000 for about a month now and I think it's pucker! It's not perfect by a long chalk, but it's positives far outweigh it's negatives! Really, at the end of the day, if you can't turn out music on this machine that you're happy with, I would say it's your problem not the machine's! P.s. Does it pee off any other owners when people who've only checked it in a shop pass comment?!
