I think that in todays modern music it is a very usefull tool. Good for the home studioist who is just setting up a under 2000 midi setup. You could spend 600 for an Akai drum sampler, but really this is the best for the price like the Yamy CS1X. As you grow more richer (don 't count on it) get an E-synth or somin. I do look back now and see me using my Pc for all software multitracking with audio samples and wonder what else I would have bouht. But at the end of the day it is a good sampler and a cheaper alternative to a portable DAT recorder for analog synths. Yamaha and everyone else seems oblivious to submitting a list of actual SYSEX or midi messages that it will understand, okay note on and off and pitch bend maybe but surely there must be more? email me.

this machine is a nice sampler to start with when you are low on budget.

it is the cheapest thingy around and it fits in your pocket and i even managed to

make a killer remix with it (bjork's cover me), using 44,1 (cd quality) samples

and a 4-track. i managed to make it in two sessions, so the memory is enough

if you do not need the best sound-quality. i am going to buy an akai s2000, but

up to this day i have been using this machine live. using mono samples at the

worst sound-quality, it is a usefull machine with 1:07 worth of sample memory.

the only thing i do not understand is that they promote it for DJ-use, but i

have NEVER seen a DJ using a sampler + it would probably suck bigtime, using a

"hip shout" all the time through the records you're spinning.

only severe limitation to the yamaha su-10 is that you can only play 1 octave

range using only 1 sample at a time. that's the main reason for me to buy a

bigger machine.

second hand price is about &225 (at least that's what i am seeling it for

(already SOLD, sorry)).

in the meantime, enjoy our homepage: www.euronet.nl/~lrvk/q&b

we are using more than just 2 SU-10's, we also have a roland mc303 and a tb303

AND a korg poly-800+ a real bass and a midi-drumkit. stay alternaive !
