Update to my last posting. I noticed that the hold button on this unit wasn't working. Also, this unit was popping more than a popcorn machine. What the heck was Yamaha thinking. Everytime I tried to Loop Sync samples, I would get that annoying sound. I returned this back to the store. Do not waste your money on this. It's not even worth $200 bucks. I'm using the money to buy the Waldorf Micro Q, which is worth the $600 price tag.

Just got this thing as a demo model from Guitar Center for $230. The price is why I bought it. I would not have spent more money on this. It didn't come with the owner's manual or the CD, but they did give me the power supply, cool! I downloaded the manual from Yamaha's website. This is my first sampler, so I'm not expecting any miracles from this unit. I'm going to use it with my Nord Lead 2 and Korg X5D synths live. I like the fact that it's small and portable. I just hope not to drop it as it's very cheaply constructed. As of now, I'm giving it a 4 out of 5. It's simple to use and the price was right. It's not the greatest, but what do you expect for a couple hundred dollars! This is nice for a budget sampler.

Just got this thing off e-bay. I wish I would have read some REAL reviews of the su200 before I bought it. If you read all the stuff in catalogs it makes it seem like a real winner for the price, when actually it sucks. I was so mad I wrote a nasty letter to Yamaha to tell them how disappointed I was. The pops in the samples, make them unusable. There are pops when you use the loop play mode and even if you are just looping the original there is a pop when the sample ends. It's annoying. I even tried to send the loops through every effect I have including EQ, compressors, noise reduction and nothing could make the pop less noticable. I haven't even said anything about it's severly limited storage space and that completely useless scratch pad. THE QUESTION IS, WHAT DO I BUY NOW? Has anybody had more luck with the Korg ES-1? (I've read all the mixed reviews and I'm done with toys) Or is the Ensoniq ASR-X worth the extra dough? I don't need a sequencer I have the RM-1X. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. DO NOT BUY THE YAMAHA SU-200 IT WILL LET YOU DOWN!
