You can not get better soundquality, not even today! I think it sounds more organic than any new synth, well maby Kurzweil has got the right quality. Buy it now you will not regret it!

I've been dreaming of SY99 from the day Yamaha sent me prospects and now, finally, I am financially strong enough to buy one, used (42.000,- SKK). It's fantastic. I own(ed) Roland Alpha Juno, Roland D110, Kawai K1, Roland XP10 and Kawai K4r, but this is my first synth I consider as really professional. Design, keyboard feel, programmability, sounds, effects... I like almost everything about it. Will never give it away and I believe that it is forever one of the best synths ever made.
PS: Can someone help me, please? I am still using Atari ST and can't buy an editor/librarian for it. There was one from E-Magic (Soundiver) and Steinberg (Synthworks), but the companies seem to forget about Atari, can't sell it to me. Anybody out there with a copy?

When I saw a picture for the first time of the SY-99,I went to the musicshop to order it.I have it since '91.I am fond of Yamaha synths,but I have to admit that I am a bit disappointed with the story of my SY-99.First of all I think it was expensive to buy.After 5 years of use,the display started to faint,and now it's not backlit anymore.The third thing is that one of the springs of the keyboard has no strength anymore.Then I had problems with the disk drive too.I like the sound and feel,but maybe I was not so lucky with my toy!
