I got mine around 1992 and have worshipped it since.
Have had a lot of fun editing voices especially trying to
imitate various organ voices (my interest is mainly Bach and
organ music). What a pity Yamaha didn't bring out a further
evolution of the sy99 - maybe with more memory and perhaps a
hard drive. What is now available similar to it?
Would like to have any tips from other users.

This is Awesome AFM Machine. Nice EP,Brass,Saxphone, and Acoustic piano. EP(Classic) is Great. AFM synthesizing is very complex, but powerful (If you know FM synthesis..) FX is also cool. (ex: aural exciter.) AFM sound is good techno, trance, house, acid, jungle, etc electronic sound. Hybrid synth sound (AFM/AWM) are great. but this is old machine. PCM sample is very short and weak. and all patch(+user patch) are only 192. and small ram(flash ram? or p-ram) 512K (very small..) Polyphonic is only 32 (AFM 16+AWM 16) I want to 128poly and 64M RAM with AFM synthsis (6op x 8, user algorithm) If you interest FM-EP(DX7) or specially Noise and Leed synth,or various FAT-FM Bass, buy it.
Does EX5 have a AFM(like sy-99)?
my home is "http://my.netian.com/~stompmix" some sy99 sample formated MP3.

I bought my SY99 for a small project studio. I'm a guitar player so what use it has had has been trying to figure it out. I was able to do some background work for a number of theatrical productions and it was awesome. I can imagine what this synth could do with someone that knows what they are doing. I would like to sell mine...so if anyone could give me some info on how to find someone looking for an SY99 in particular I would really appreciate it. Theres no sense in it sitting in a box in my closet.
