Hi, I have just purchased a Yamaha TG 100. I can get a midi signal with the voices but can't seem to hear the drums!!! I use a Yamaha k'board with midi connection. The TG 100 stereo outs are fed to my Tascam DP 01 portostudio. Can pick up all voices but channel 10 (drums) I can't pick up.

Hi, I just purchased a used yamaha tg100. Is the display supposed to be backlit on this unit? Mine isn't and it's very hard to work with. I was just wondering if they were supposed to be backlit or not. Thanks.
PS: Is there anyway of making a display such as this backlit?

A box which may be good for beginners because it's quite cheap - I got mine for about 50 Euros and I would advice anyone not to spend more money than this because for 100 Euros You even may get a Kawai K1 or a GMega.
Very good about this module is that it's absolutely easy to use; no functions - no trouble... Good are some digital sounds as well as the built-in reverb. I also use the snare and some crashes, too. The over-all quality is quite poor, though. Most sounds are very thin and the real instruments sound very unrealistic.
If you do already have a GM-device - forget it. If you want to start with making MIDI-music - get it cheap.

Well... I really like Tg100 for the deep reverb. The sounds are not too bad. I have also a TG300 and I must say that the TG100 It's better than Tg300.

I have many other synth modules and I picked this up to add to my Yamaha collection. The sounds are very typical AWM (12 bit). Samples are definately worthy. Not at bad unit. Great for layering sounds. I only used the Midi part but it can connect via serial port also. Limited editablility that must be saved -via- sysex. Since these go for around $100 these days it's a easy add and worth the cost. Display is very small. I'll give a 4 for sound but a 2 for lack of true editability and small display, for a 3 average.
