Well, this unit is short on editing capability...the tiny buttons are a pain in the butt! The LCD screen is too small and even adjusting the contrast angle does nothing to aid visibility. The drums are EXCELLENT! As good as many other units I own, including dedicated drum machines. I personally think they blow the Roland units out of the water. Layering is tricky but can be accomplished by transmitting two patches on the same channel. Most of the patches sound too weak to be realistic. Some of them are good however. Use it as a drum module! I got mine for 10 bucks at a yard sale. The owners had no idea what it was for. The plugged it in and it didn't make music, so they assumed it was broken! I spoke to the husband and he said they bought it at a different yard sale because it looked like a "high-tech" item they thought they could make a profit on! If you get one for $100 or less, grab it!

I can add the following comments to this unit :
1. It has more than 1 effect types that you can choose from. I think total number of effects is 6.
2. As indicated at the web page, the pizz srings, saxes and drums are good. I can also say that timpani, dulcimer, Ooh choir and Shamisen are quite fine. I still use this unit for its drums.
3. The other banks than GM bank are totally useless. They are nearly the copies of the GM bank. Therefore, it is not true to say it has ~200 patches. It has only one decent GM bank of 128 patches + drum kits.
4. I'll try to send you the photo of this unit as soon as possible.

Nice sounding, low budget module. The serial midi port often hangs. Soundquality of the patches varies. Operation is not too user friendly. Nice module if you can get it cheap, but is somewhat outdated thanks to the new XG modules on the market.

Nice 'n' cheap... Drums are acctually really good. As for most of the samples, well for this price I don't think you'll find anything bettersounding! (I bought if for 100$)

Yes, yes, no filters, minimal possibilities of sound editing, only one Reverb/Delay
but considering price it's quite nice box. Personally I've found about 10 patches
sounding better or more interesting then patches in many expencive big 1U
rack's (examples - OrchHit, SynStrings 1 and 2, Piccicato, Tubular Bell, Timpani,
ChurchOrgan).
