The cs-01 just blows me away, the wide birth eclectic sounds generated from what looks like a casiotone. I picked mine up second hand, having seen some insanely inflated prices in some local music stores. I'm no expert but this out weighs a lot of other analog synths i've noodled with in the past, korgs, mini moogs ect. I'm one happy camper!

I thought first that the cs-1 was a cool blue synthesizer and the ease of

manipulating the sound astonished me...

But then as i hooked it up in the studio and plugged it in to MIDI as a slave synth.

Then all my visions fell apart...It interferred with all the other synths in the chain

And started playing some XG-piano over all the channels..It triggered some awful

Pitched tunes and all i wanted to do was to throw it through the window...

That was 6months ago...I still feel the same way but the little blue bastard

have shown some sympathy for me. And i still have it in one of the Midi-Chains

and still i dislike it but will always love it.

I think its a very good Synth to start off with. When I first got my hands on it Was in my School Music Class! I sat there tweaking the sliders and I asked the teacher if I could get a Manual on it, and after I read it I was getting sounds out of it that my teacher said she never heard before, I kinda got some Acid sounds out of it. but I really didn't hear any difference useing the breath control. I like the little synth.

I got the CS-01 mk1 and I love it to death! Just imagine what the

fuzz around it would nowadays be if Yamaha had only built it in a more

impressive (bigger) chassis... But then again, you can score these for

_really_ low prices and that's BIG plus for cs-01 in the current

overpriced analogsynth-market. From growling basses to moog-like

lead sounds, this baby delivers it! And what's even more surprising,

it stays perfectly in tune, never had a problem with mine anyway. Plus Kenton

manufactures a CV/gate kit for the cs-01 so you can hook it up to your

analogue/software sequencer with a simple mod. Now if only I could get

5 cs-01's more, rip them to pieces and start building up a _modular_

cs-01 set-up, that would be a thrill!

And don't forget about another underrated yammy, the cs-15, but that's a whole

another story...
