Nice monophonic synth. Only one oscillator and a 12db/octave filter, but many sounds can be had from this unit. Like most reviewers have already said, bass is beautifully clear. Sweet high sounds are reminiscent of Shakatak's mellow synth leads. Working in the VCF's Envelope Generator, many sounds can be created. It sounds nice straight or you can add a chorus or delay pedal to thicken the sound. Also, any sound can be routed into the filter and amp section via the input jack on the back, making this a nice synth to use with samplers.

Nice monophonic synth. Only one VCO, but very clear and very fast. Fast envelopes make this one of the punchiest synths around. Bass as deep and clear as you need. LFO is sort of unusual as you can't turn it off, but great when needed. Also cool is the input on back allowing this to be used as a VCF/VCA effect for other instruments! I run a delay between this synth and the amp, and it sounds excellent.
Yamaha built these well with a thick steel case, heavy wood base, and good quality electronics and controlls, still due to its age, it's probably wise to have serviced and calibrated.

I use to have a DX-7 from Yamaha and sold it for a much simpler synth.Lone and behold i found the CS-10 from Yamaha. For being Vintage this synth is definately worth the price and quality of a musical instrument.I like Yamaha's quality of this machine and they're built to last.It was a wise decision on my part to buy the CS-10.This synth is very versatile in sound for being analogue and easy to learn synthesis. Not complicated at all.Wonderful Synth.

i got one because i cant afford a korg ms10, theyre far too expensive at the moment. so i got myself a cs10 and for 100 quid you cant go wrong. two filter shape controllers are too rusted to do anything, but i cant figure out what that section really does anyhow plus it adds character to the machine (thats my excuse anyhow). it does normal sounds like flutes and woodwind. it does basslines (much better than my bass guitar). and most important of all - it does crazy synth noize. you can use it like a giant sfx peddal too, sounds like a boss syb-5. yum.
tip : for destory your room basslines turn all the LFOs to zero and the filter to 1/3. if you have the LFO speed on you can make mad room shaking heart beat sounds too.

cs01: PHAT sound for a tiny toylookin synth cs10: very simple but soo nice cs5/15: fun but not as much fun as a cs10 cs30: very fun quirks/mods/funky leads synth, but in the bass department the cs10 blows it away. (without the sequencer a whole lot less fun tho)
cs series rule!
