I found a DX9 in my studio when i moved in, i like it for its simplicity, has some interesting sounds, clear sounds. I have been using it for 2 years now along with the Nova series of synths. I just found out today that the DX9 is considered a "bad" synth. I dont know what everybodys talking about, its not hard to program, and it has a buetifull clear tone. maybe people who dont like it have the atention span of a parakete? So please dont take out your creative shortcomings on the DX9. i know it must be frustating to be stupid, but be calm, theire is allways the next life.

you're never going to get a good piano out of it

or even a decent one

not to say it's a bad synth. just no pianos...

Hi, This is probably a very simple question for you, but i was wondering if someone could tell me how to make this DX9 just play simple piano sound? We have got one for free from a previous owner and just want to use it for piano practice. As the manual is quite complicated, we'd appreciate it if you could save us a lot of time and tell us how to set it to default settings or simply how to erase the memory and re-set one of the settings to piano?

Thanks for any help, Mir

The DX9 is not great, and it has a horrible brownish colour too. Put simply, it's like a DX100, but with sine waves only, and a reduced MIDI spec. It's extremely cheap, and useful as a full-sized keyboard for MIDI input, but the noisiness of the original FM process makes it of dubious musical use, although as with all FM synths it can make some pounding bass sounds.
