Interesting to see people still praising this piano, in the next century.
I got one of these in the 80's and at the time it was my first realistic piano and a huge step forward for me.
The catch was and still is that there's only a single set of samples and no filter so velocity changes the volume of the notes but ***not the timbre at all***. It is really those changes that give our brains the the clue that a piano is being played softer or louder.
If you try the play an EMT-10 with any expression it it curiously makes your brain feel like it is moving closer and further away instead of louder and softer.
Any later piano will be an improvement.

Found one on ebay a few days ago for about 20 bucks. Thought I give it a try, nothing to loose here. I own a Yamaha SY55 that I was about ready to trash because the sounds are real "cheesy". I decided, what the heck and to my surprise the little "booger" bought the yamaha back to life. The piano patch is great and the chorus outstanding. The others are very passable also. The chorus even adds a little spice to my Korg Triton. This is the 1st module I've own and no complaints here even if it's almost 20 years old. Still useful even in today's standards.

I've had this unit since it first came out. It was a Christmas gift from my parents when I was 17. It was a great addition to my Casio CZ1 becuase it added some realistics sounds. At the time I remember thinking how lucky I was to have a great Casio CZ1 synth, an EMT-10, Cakewalk for DOS and of course my Roland MPU-401 interface. The unit really has nice sounds. Much, Much stronger than a GM unit. I think the unit was on sale for 50 dollars. After all of the equipment that I've bought and sold over the years I've always kept this one. Partly becuase the piano sound is so good...especially in the mix with a little reverb or delay. There's not much to say about it. Press one of the buttons and play the sound. In my opinion I always thought the upright bass sound was excellent. I also own a k2000, TG77, Roland S-330 and an Emu E64. The EMT-10 adds some variety to the different modules I already own. I can't say much more but If you spend 50 dollars for one of these and you use one sound in one song...then it was worth it.

A fantastic unit. I bought mine new in the 80's and have gigged it for years. The acoustic piano is still my main sound beating anything that my Nord Electro, GEM, Roland or Kurzweil can produce. Try playing the intro to 'One Vision' by Queen using the strings and tell anyone they're crap; the choir sound is awesome and the basses and guitars good. Its' one weak point is the Brass - one of the best modules I have every bought and certainly the cheapest; I wouldn't be without it and if it failed I would replace it straight away................
