In short, I use the TG500 as my main multi-timbral unit. I am planning to
get a newer 64 voice unit with GM to join forces with the TG500. I think the sounds are still useful in today's music. The sample-ram feature,
once you track a chip down, and the 4 individual outs makes this unit
important. AWM2 seems to be a clean enveloping system. Like Witchfinder says, It is better than most of the newer XG modules
when it comes to sounds and flexibility. I have not heard the MU100
yet. Based on my use over time, I will probably give an official review
on this unit because it does deserve it and some of my time to do so. If you find this unit ,cheap, it's still a great investment. The PCM's may not
be as numerous as the newer modules of today but they are still quite
useful in today's sound.
