WOW.... I finally got hold of one of these beauties and WOW.... have you heard just what they are capable of, if you are in the market for a synth that can do all that you can throw at it this is it although its not XG but to be completely honest you dont need it with this machine it sounds the biz. Rich for strings and violins and guitar sounds just blow me away I'm british but I played the American anthem yesterday as a guitar and (can i swear) f*@k me its fantastic and thats just the pre sets. Unfortunately its suffering fron the dreaded floppy curse but alas one is on its way from Aus to make it perfect again so my sequencing abilities can be tested 100,000 notes hmmm I will try to fill it but I doubt it. When I bought it I was trying to buy a Roland SH-101 but for some reason got side tracked into the W7 what have I done I thought but after playing it I will NEVER sell it its worth 10 SH-101s for Bass alone..... If you see another for sale BUY IT if not let me know I will buy it worth their weight in gold

Here is my take on Yamaha's great synths that carry the number 7. The first one the DX7 gets too much respect (mostly because of the timing) And the ones that followed, the SY77 & the wonderful W7. Don't get enough.

Yamaha produced a gem with this synth the W7. Beautiful sounds and POWER. With the most straight forward and easy to use 16 track sequencer. It can do it ALL. I will tell you this in all honesty, if I had the choice of paying a $1000 or more for a second hand Korg Triton, or $400 for the Yamaha W7. I will take the W7 everytime. For the money there is nothing out there close to this except its earlier cousin the SY77, but they're less reliable and harder to get hold of in good condition. My advice to anyone who has 400-500 dollars to spend and wants a great allround synth is get yourself a W7, you'll love it..
