As a whole, I think that the W7 Workstation I own is great. The piano voices, which are the most important to me, sound wonderful. But I have recently ran into a problem. I want to play my music through my computer so that I can set up my web page with sound samples, but there is a problem. The midi cord which the W7 uses doesn't plug into the midi port on the various soundcards. Where can I get an adapter to go from the 5pin to a 15pin gameport plug? I own my W5 for 2 and a half years now. It's my 1st synthi (I had a PSR500 before) I have the VERSION 2 - ROMs. All in all it's IMHO a good all round workstation with quite good (not excellent) sounds. To the people who like the piano sounds of the W5/W7: Have You listened to YAMAHA PF-P100 or PF-P150 (Digital Pianos) or to Kurzweil MicroPiano (Piano-Expander)?? THESE are good (better: excellent) Piano Sounds, not the one of the W5/W7 !!! To the people who like the organ sounds of the W5/W7: Have You listened to the organ sounds of KORG X5DR?? These are real cool hammond-sounds. From the W5/W7 sound-library (built-in) only the sound (in Yamaha terms: voice) "Or: The Cat" on preset bank 3 (comes with version 2 - ROMs) is good in my opinion and for my purposes. The problem is that the Leslie-FX doesn't increase its speed slowly, but "jumps" to the speed selected with the mod-wheel. But these 2 points are my only criticism. From the sequencer and sound editing view this workstation is probably the easiest to use You can get.... PS: If someone hat a Windows-Based Sound-Editor for the W5/W7, pleas m@il me !!! THANX!
