The zoom sampletrack is a fine phrase sampler... Its easy and fast to operate... The strength of this small sampler is in its resampling capabilities, good and usefull fx section and its 8 note polyphony... Use a external sequencer to trigger your samples as the intenal sequencer is crap.... Try to pick it up second hand... I did :-)

THE ULTIMATE SAMPLETRAK REVIEW IS IN THE MUSIC!!!

If there's one thing I've learned about user reviews on this site, it's that you can't believe 85% of what you read. It seems like the most popular comment is "this thing sucks" from people who haven't taken the time to really know their given piece of gear. You need to invest at least a full year in a piece of equipment before you can grasp it's full potential. The Zoom St-224 is GREAT! It's a very versatile peice of gear for all of your phrase sampling and live PA needs. It makes a great addition to any DJ set up and I would recommend it over any competitor in it's price range. You get great effects, very sharp editing features, clean sound, and useful bpm sync options. Although I purchased mine to back up my drum and bass PAs, the St-224 is fully capable of making a good song (as the only sound source you use)

It's easy to talk. I've decided to prove my point. It's all about knowing your equipment. Go to mp3.com/synapticflow and listen to the song The Ronin. The St-224 was the only sound source on this track. An external sequencer triggered it. I did this in a few hours. I could do even better if i chose to. This is a GREAT example of this machine's power. I don't work for ZOOM. I am a dirt poor musician trying to do what I love. (sharing my music with the world even though I am poor) Nothing should stop a dream. Remember one thing... there are no shortcuts. LEARN YOUR GEAR! You make the most out of anything.

I'm an experimental musician and I have to say that this little sampler is an amazing tool. The fact that this machine is so easy to set up loops on combined with the 22 effects that can be used for internal re-sampling makes it great for morphing obscure sounds and field recordings into beautiful music. There is a lot to work with here--if you ever had an interest in producing Musique Concrete or similar stuff i couldn't imagine a more economical or apropriate hardware investment.

A brilliant little sampler for the money, fun to use with professional results. Ideal if your into Breakbeat/Hip-Hop/D&B, and the effects are excellent.

I got mine brand new for £169 from Turnkey, and a 4MB Smartmedia card for £9 from Jessops. Bargain!!!!!!!
