I got this 224 a while ago and really like it. It is so easy to use and has great features. The SmartMedia card is a cool way to store samples. This unit can use up to a 16MB card (3.3v) which can easily be purchased from digital camera supply firms on-line for $33-$35 each. 16MB holds a lot of samples---equal to more than 11 HD floppies or almost the entire memory of an expanded Akai s20. I have 2 cards, so I can switch em back and forth. The sample sync feature is way cool and much easier than similar sync features on other phrase samplers. This unit is easily one of the very best values out there. Zoom is known for "bang for the buck" value and this baby is a WINNER!!!

Check <> and look under Products, Accesories: "Compatibility with SmartMedia: 4MB, 8 MB, 16 MB/3.3V SmartMedia which formatted with ST-224 can be used. 2MB, 32MB or more and 5V SmartMedia would not work with ST-224."

This sampler is deffenently the best buy on the market now.It seems pretty eqaul to the es-1,but it costs only 300 bucks, compared to the 450 you gonna pay for the es-1.The st-224 has 22 phat effects, and most of them are pretty nice! The sample sync is a nice touch also.If you are a budding hiphop producer, and dont want to part with enough money to buy a used car to buy that MPC,ASRX-pro,then go for this.If you are a little richer and can shell out 700 bucks for a used SU700 then maybe go that routt, but if you are on a budget this will do just fine.Oh by the the way the st-224 makes a really great drum machine!

The ST-224 is one of the phattest phrase samplers out. People should not avoid it cause they say it is not "pro". This sampler is soooo phat!!!! The only thing the mpc2000 has that is better is the sequencer and midi. Other than that the sampletrak sounds better, samples better, has better fx (than the optional mpc2000 board--which alone costs as much as the st-224 unit itself). Just sample and assign to pads-quicker than the mpc2000. Way better lowpass filters!!!! This machine is amazing.Cant believe they got all this in one small box. Try one out!
