- I was at a gig last night where the keyboard player had what I'm pretty sure was a JP6- and he had this string patch on it which sounded incredible when it washed through the mix. Since I have one myself, I decided to give it a go today and my attempts didn't come to much.
What is a good starting point in terms of waveforms, lfo settings, etc. to get the ball rolling?

- What type of string sound was it? An ARP Solina-ish type? A lush PWM strings? Thin Crumar-like strings? Knowing that would be a good starting point.
I have several JP6 string sounds if you need.

- Oh man - I don't know my analogues well enough to be able to say. They sounded pretty lush though.
Getting some sounds off you would be much appreciated. Then I can pull them apart in my own time to see how it's done. How should we do this?

- set osc 1 to 16 and a saw wave then detune it a bit, set osc 2 to 8 and the pulse width modulateable square wave, set the lfo so modulate the pulse width at a bit below half of its max speed and turn the amount down so its not really obvious that the lfo is there, youll get a kind of phasing like sound. turn up the resonance a fourth of the way or so and turn down the cutoff to about three fourths of the way open, set envelopes to your liking (i usually have about a second of attack and about two seconds of release on the amp, but thats just me) and there you are, my favorite jp6 string patch, veeeery lush and moving, but its by no means the only kind of string sound that you can do, experiment!

- Purchase an FX processor and douse your JP6 in chorus, digital delay, and reverb.
That should liven it up.

- Got it! That's the sound I was hearing the other night!
I stuck a bit of stereo chorus on it as well... beautiful. This is what forums are all about. Anyone else got some ideas - don't be shy, post'em up!
