- I was the high bidder until I retracted my bid, but I may re-bid again at the last min. I retracted it because I had bid on an impulse, but wanted to think about it a bit more since I could get other stuff I need. djrjx is my ebay id

- I reviewed one for FM last month. I agree about the software being very buggy. Sounds pretty nice and can be immense but the the OS really lets its down.

yea it's really sad about the bugginess of it. it's been a few years it's been out and it's like it's still in beta. :(

- I used to own a Sunsyn. It was a nice sounding synth but also a nightmare experience. Mine locked up hard after about two days, it could not be rebooted and had to be sent back to Germany to have the OS ROM replaced. Apparently, on some of the earlier ones this could happen because the Flash was not properly protected. In my case it happened simply because I sent a CC to the sunsyn from an external source (a triton). As soon as it came back from Germany I dumped the unit because there was no way I could afford the $200.00+ shipping to Germany if another problem cropped up. This was almost two years ago. Since then I have somewhat closely followed the development of the Sunsyn and have been pretty unimpressed with the list of things that still don't work properly, especially multi-timbrality.

I won't bid again...its yours. Seems like far to much trouble for the money. For the money I was going to spend I could get a like new JP8, or a bunch of cheaper stuff, or put the money towards the G5 etc.
I feel bad for retracting my bid, but I was high bidder for only an hour or so.

- The other bidder was probably me (if you're talking about Item number: 2560891144), but after reading this thread, I won't bid again and may retract my bid if necessary. I just jumped on what looked like a great deal after reading the Sunsyn review in EM this month. I'd rather spend a few hundred more and get a warranteed Andromeda demo from Sweetwater.

my question is WHY IS THE US DISTRIBUTOR bidding on a used unit?! shill bid? is he trying to drive up the used price of the Sunsyn in order to justify his new price? does he have something to do with the seller (maybe him under another nick)? this is completely unethical.

anyway ^_^ and kippaj i occasionally see sunsyns on the used market (HC) for between $2000 and max $2300 so keep you eyes open there. www.harmony-central.com the market is shit so maybe you could even get them for less. you'll be happier with a sunsyn then an andromeda, which also has a few bugs though nothing so major. it just sounds better and is more unique. not as many env choices but they seem tighter to me.

- 2725 is RIDICULOUS for a sunsyn...LOL hell even 2000 i think is a bit high for one, considering how cheap the a6 is...1600 on the market... for a FULLY working MULTITIMBRAL unit. and then u get the replies "well the new os fixed it" then u go on the jomox list and hear "having probels...notes dropping" ....lol :)

- Strange, I added a post last night but it never showed. I was just expressing my disbelief at the price the Sunsyn went for ($2753). You could buy a new one for $150 more! Why would anyone pay that much for a used one? I thought it was getting a little high when I backed out @ $1750. Then to find out the distributor was bidding! This is the kind of stuff that makes me avoid ebay. To top it off, after I placed a bid I got an email from a George Iversen trying to sell me a Sunsyn for around $1000 using Western Union Transfer from England. An obvious scam.
To stupidquestions: I was attracted to the Sunsyn because of it's uniqueness, but I'd never get one if the multi mode doesn't work. Does it work at all?
btw, the Electronic Musician review I mentioned is in the September '03 issue, part of the cover story "Seven Deadly Synths". The reviewer loves the Sunsyn, but says "voice allocation in Multi mode needs work" and "Jomox plans to address these concerns by the time you read this"...

I get this after almost every bid I win. Last time someone was trying to sell me a church organ from _spain_ for $100 below my final winning bid. No mention of shipping. He gladly accepted wire transfer. Had some fun with him for a few weeks going back and forth like I was actually going to pay him...
