Gibson Guitar and Baldwin Piano will once again sponsor the National Academy of Popular Music/Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at a gala event to be held Thursday, June 10, 2004 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Manhattan. The National Academy of Popular Music/Songwriters Hall of Fame is dedicated to recognizing the work and lives of those composers and lyricists who create popular music around the world. The highly anticipated 35th Annual induction will feature inductees from all genres of music. Among the inductees, Gibson and Baldwin will be on hand to applaud Charles Fox, Al Green, Daryl Hall & John Oates, Don Mclean and songwriting duo Barrett Strong and Norman Whitfield. "I can think of no better event that personifies Gibson and Baldwin's dedication to music than the Songwriters Hall of Fame" said Henry Juszkiewicz, Chairman and CEO of Gibson Guitar. "It is both an honor and a privilege to have the opportunity to sponsor such an incredible event and to join forces with both People Magazine and Bravo Entertainment. We are in great company". The first ever Starlight Award will be presented to songwriter Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20, who has made significant impact on the music industry in the early part of his career. Other awards being presented at the induction ceremony include The Towering Song Award to Hal David and Burt Bacharach for 'What the World Needs Now Is Love'. Warner Chappell Chairman and CEO Les Bider will be the recipient of this year's Abe Olman Award and Toys R Us Children's Fund Chairman Michael Goldstein will be the recipient of this year's Patron of the Arts Award. Neil Sedaka will be presented with the prestigious Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award for his incredible success and lifelong devotion to creating legendary music.
