Roland has announced shipment of the new ARX-01 and ARX-02 expansion boards, as announced at the winter NAMM show, for the new Fantom-G series. The Fantom-G series is the first instrument line equipped with Roland’s revolutionary ARX expansion-board slots. Roland say that each ARX board is a synth with its own processor, graphics, and DSP, powered by Roland’s proprietary SuperNATURAL sound technology for organic, emotional expression.
A Roland spokesperson said, “The ARX-01 Drums Expansion Board is a music production dream. Thanks to its SuperNATURAL voice engine, musicians have complete control of the elements of each drum, such as shell depth and muffling. Once each drum is crafted, music creators can further refine it with the built-in compressor/EQ, reverb, powerful multi-effects, and an onboard mixer for adjusting the volume and pan position.
With SuperNATURAL sound, detailed control, and ultra-realistic amp modeling, the ARX-02 Electric Piano Expansion Board puts new expression and realism into a classic instrument category. Musicians can change the position of the pickup, and choose from five amp models with dynamic control. Volume and tone change smoothly and realistically, based on the strength of the keyboard performance.

Roland tell us that optimized effects and custom graphic interfaces are exclusive to each ARX board. ARX allows musicians to create unique instruments with the highest-quality sounds with organic, natural control.
