Keith Emerson and Herbie Hancock have received Lifetime Achievement Awards from Korg. Here's Korg's press release...
Korg presented its inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award to renowned keyboard artist/composer Keith Emerson (The Nice, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, solo artist) and multiple GRAMMY Award/OSCAR-winning jazz visionary Herbie Hancock (Miles Davis, The Headhunters, solo artist). Chosen for their excellence in music, innovation and dedication to the arts, Emerson and Hancock were presented with the awards during dedicated ceremonies at the 2009 Winter NAMM Show in California.
The Korg Lifetime Achievement Award further underscores Keith Emerson and Herbie Hancock's status as two of the most preeminent keyboardists/artists today. The awards were a fitting way to honor their creative accomplishments and the musical examples they continue to set for scores of fans and keyboard players the world over. To mark the occasion, Korg also made a donation to a charity of each artist's choice.
"The Korg Lifetime Achievement Award was created to honor true innovators for their outstanding achievements and contributions to music. Few artists have gained more respect and cast more influence on an entire generation of keyboard players than these two visionaries," stated Jerry Kovarsky, Korg Technology Senior Product Manager. "We are very proud to have Keith and Herbie as part of our extended Korg family, and I feel fortunate to know and work with them - their creative examples continue to lead the way for all of us."
