2011 Experience Hendrix Tour Starts May 20

The Experience Hendrix Tour returns in late May for the 2011 edition of the concert series paying homage to the musical genius and cultural legacy of Jimi Hendrix. Here's what Fender has to say about it...
The 2011 Experience Hendrix Tour, presented by Fender, once again features an all-star lineup of some of the best known and most highly regarded names in contemporary rock and blues, several of whom are returning Experience Hendrix veterans. These include Billy Cox, Steve Vai, Robert Randolph, Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, David Hidalgo and Cesar Rosas (Los Lobos), Keb' Mo, Eric Johnson, North Mississippi All Stars, Brad Whitford (Aerosmith), Living Colour, Ernie Isley, Chris Layton (Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble), Mato Nanji (Indigenous). Additional special guests will be announced.
Among the tour's many players, bassist Cox holds a special place as one of Jimi Hendrix's most dear friends and longtime bandmates. He and Hendrix first played together in the early 1960s; the two men met while serving in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division. Together, they backed artists on the "chitlin circuit" of performance venues throughout the U.S. east and south during the early and mid-1960s. They reunited when Hendrix recruited Cox for the Band of Gypsys in 1969 and the final lineup of the Jimi Hendrix Experience.
The Experience Hendrix Tour was conceived by the Hendrix family in Seattle in summer 1995 as the Jimi Hendrix Electric Guitar Festival and has grown annually as the premier live celebration of Hendrix's art and life.
