We’ve spoken to Steven Slate, founder of Slate Digital and Slate Pro Audio a few times at the NAMM show, his products seem to come from a deep conviction that the modern workflow can be significantly improved using innovation. His own experiences working at the top end of pop music production give him first hand knowledge.

The Raven MTX Multi-touch Production Console is a pretty mindblowing concept, essentially is uses new large format multi-touch technology to create a virtual analog console, enhanced with many user configurable buttons and scripts to control modern DAWs. It also has a comprehensive monitoring and interfacing built in, to accommodate modern technology such as USB drives and iPhones etc.

While certainly extremely impressive, it's not something that is aimed at the budget end of the market. Prices are not confirmed, but going on Slate Digital’s other physical products we can expect a price tag that will make this the tool of a fairly select few. Still, I certainly wouldn't mind sitting in front of one - how about you?
