Thrash metal band Anthrax have released a statement saying that they are not holding auditions to replace guitarist, Rob Caggiano, who left the band recently.

The band have been overwhelmed by messages from fans, who have been describing their shredding credentials in Facebook messages and emails.

Here is the statement from the band:

"We love you all, and are confident you shred like Yngwie Malmsteen after a case of Red Bull, but to answer all 57,000 messages at once, WE ARE NOT DOING AUDITIONS for lead guitarist. m/"

Rob Caggiano left the band in order to focus on his career as a producer, he said in a statement:

"We accomplished so many great things together over the years and I shared some of the best times of my life with these guys. As a band, we also weathered quite a few storms along the way. It's been a wild ride (to say the least) from Day One and I wouldn't change one single thing about the last 12 years."
