For many the first step into modular synthesis can be a daunting prospect, so there are a number of new compact, complete voice systems with normalled signal path - which means it works without having to get busy with the patch cables. Pittsburgh Modular Lifeforms system does just that too.
We spoke with Richard Nicols about how the system works. One thing we weren't aware of was the amount of control options available from the KB-1 keyboard module, as well as arpeggiator, 64 step sequencer, there's a four preset analog control voltage output, and two assignable trigger outputs too. Quite useful for control of a larger system too.
Lifeforms has been shipping for a couple of months now, available from all good synthesizer dealers.
