We think the new Novation Peak news dropped while we were in the air. Speculation has been rife that something's coming from Novation. And here it is.
Peak is an 8 voice hybrid analog with NCO (Numerically Controlled Oscillators) - they call them New Oxford Oscillators which run on FPGA rather than the more common DSP as does the whole synth (the digital part). Peak has analog state variable filter, VCAs and 3 analog distortion circuits too.
We spoke with Nick Bookman - one of the senior engineers on the Peak. We'll aim to get back and get more sound demos soon.
Peak is desktop format only, with an expected price of $1299.
Developments for Korg's instrument have been slow but promising.
