Unmix And Remix Your Drums

US DrumsSSX aims to separate sounds in acoustic mono or stereo drum recordings      23/11/18

Fuse Audio Labs tells us that DrumsSSX is an all in one solution that is aimed at separating acoustic mono or stereo drum recordings so they can be remixed individually whenever multitrack signals are unavailable. Here's the details in their own words...

DrumsSSX is an acronym that stands for Drum signal Source Separator and Re-mixer. It's an all in one solution that is aimed at separating acoustic mono or stereo drum recordings into their components so they can be remixed individually whenever there are no multitrack signals available.

DrumsSSX opens up a whole world of remixing and processing capabilities that are impossible to achieve using conventional tools like EQs, compressors, transient shapers or even multiband processors.

DrumsSSX includes

  • an advanced and trainable real-time NMF separation algorithm optimized for drum signals
  • a stereo → 5.1 unmixing mode for additional external processing
  • a musical 3-band linear phase EQ per instrument
  • an easy to use dynamics module per instrument
  • a full featured mixer
  • a powerful analyzer view
  • a set of versatile and customizable drum kit presets

Using DrumsSSX you can

  • re- and unmix exsiting mono or stereo drumset recordings where multitrack signals are unavailable
  • remove leakage from single drums sources, e.g. nasty sounding hi hat crosstalk on a snare track
  • create trigger signals for subsequent drum replacement
  • create all sorts of creative effects.
