Vocal EQ Frequencies Explained

US Colt Capperrune ditches the frequency chart      18/08/22

Colt Capperrune creates in depth mix tutorials, live Q&As and music industry advice - here he is to show us some of the secrets the professionals use on their vocal EQs - claiming we can beat the fabled EQ frequency charts! He goes through the frequency spectrum starting from 100-200Hz, which he explains is the warmth and body of the vocal. Then 300-500Hz which is the boxy / honky area - where, interestingly, a lot of the room sound can reside.

Get goes to 600Hz and the low mid range where some crucial changes can get made - and beyond  into the frequencies above in a very concise but thorough explanation. Overall, his advice at the beginning is valuable; that each vocal will needs its own treatment - and not one size fits all.
