There's something about ribbon mics... sensitive, often fragile, detailed, and beautiful sounding... but sometimes a little dark.

20-year veteran studio owner Krzysztof Tonn has been on the search for the perfect ribbon mic. Not being quite satisfied with what was on offer, he decided to build his own - and rather liked it; as did other visitors to the studio who also wanted him to build them one - so HUM Audio Devices was born, and this rather enormous Stereo ribbon mic is the result.

It's the size it is because there are two Class A discrete pre-amps actually inside the mic body, to totally minimise signal path and noise.

It also has a remote controller to access all sorts of functions such as Gain, HF Boost, MS Decoding, Dim, Filter, Phase Inversion, etc.

It's a hugely impressive mic - and sounded lovely, despite the noisy environment of the show floor.
