Introduction
Vermona are one of those synth manufacturers you may not have come across before. Originally from what was Eastern Germany, three guys who worked on the original Vermona Synthesizer (circa 1975) left to form a new company HDB Electronics when the wall came down in 1989. Taking their valve expertise with them - microchip technology was hard to come by behind the Iron Curtain, they used to specialise in valve based technology and still make a range of mic and line preamps. HDB Electronics bought the rights to the Vermona name back in 1998 and began manufacturing a number of silver faced, chunky-knobbed units which have thankfully made their way to all parts of the world.

The Perfourmer was the idea of a long time user of the Vermona DRM1 MKII Mitchell Walcott. Being clearly impressed with his DRM drum synth, he wrote to Vermona suggesting a multi-channel mono synth with separate outs – essentially expanding on the idea of synthesising separate drum instruments as used in the DRM1. Vermona thought this was a good idea and seven months later the Perfourmer was born. And that is just what Perfourmer is – four channels of monophonic synthesizers.
