IO got 2 of these pretty cheap years ago, and let me tell you, they are flakey flakey flakey. I used 'em on a Mac with Digital Performer 1.41(the only version that worked with them) and with Logic Audio 2.5.4. LA was much better, but the darn things just flaked out once, twice, three times a session. I'm getting ready to switch away from them. I won't get the pro i/o for near this price, but at least I should get a stable system.
Bottom line: It's too late for this one.

The CBX's are an excellent, under rated box. I've been using them since late '94 & they've rarely let me down. The converters are a tad antiquated by todays standards but, I've never ended up with a "below par" recording 'cause I was using 16bit converters instead of 24bit. These 16 bit converters sound better than most 20bit cards out there and won't be embarrassed next to decent 24bit conerters either. Another posative(to me anyway) is the fact that I can't upgrade my computer beyond a Pentium 233MMX- because they just won't work with anything higher. I don't need to spend $500 every year just to "perpetually upgrade". If you need pro ins & outs, metering, digi i/o, solid performance(with no drag on yoyur cpu) & can't afford to constantly upgrade your pc, these are now going cheap & it'd be worth your while to check these units out. Anyway, I think they're great!
