GERALD VANCE. (VANCE-G@ULST.UK) writes:
DEVELOPED IN AUSTRALIA IN DURING THE LATE SEVENTIES, THE FAIRLIGHT WAS THE FIRST SAMPLING WORKSTATION AVAILABLE, INSPIRING A WHOLE NEW CONCEPT IN THE CREATION OF SOUND. VERY EXPENSIVE TO BUY ORIGINALLY MEAN'T THAT NOT TO MANY WHERE PRODUCED.THIS IN TURN MAKES THEM HARD TO FIND AS THE FEW USER'S WHO OWN A FULLY WORKING SYSTEM WON'T PART WITH THEM. THE USER INTERFACE IS VERY FRIENDLY, THE VDU CONSTANTLY PROMPTS YOU, ASKING WHAT YOU WANT TO DO NEXT. THE SYSTEM IS DIVIDED UP INTO A SERIES OF PAGES, EG. PAGE R = RYTHM SEQUENCER, PAGE 8 = SAMPLING ETC. EACH PAGE CONTAINS ALL THE PARAMETERS TO CARRY OUT A PARTICULAR TASK. DATA INPUT IS VIA , STANDARD QWERTY KEYBOARD, LIGHT PEN AND A KEY PAD ON THE MASTER KEYBOARD. BANKS OF SOUNDS,SEQUENCES AND SAMPLES ARE ALL STORED ON THE SAME DISK.THE MASTER BRAIN SECTION HOUSES THE TWIN EIGHT INCH DISK DRIVES AND PROCESSORS. A TOTALLY INSPIRING MACHINE TO OWN AND PLAY!!

IF THERE ARE ANY OTHER FAIRLIGHT OWNERS OUT THERE PLEASE CONTACT ME AT 01266 44480 (N.IRELAND. UK)
