This is a brilliant String Synth because it sounds very warm and best of all, you have a lot of control over the String and Pad sounds. It is quite rare so you will be lucky to stummble across one. Comments About the Sounds: This was the flagship of Roland's RS Line of String Synthesizers. It was built to compete with ARP's Omni. It has 3 sections: String, Poly and Bass. The Bass section is active on the bottom 2 octaves. As for the sounds the Strings sound increadibly warm and Analogue. The Strings very versitile because there is lots of controls for a String Synth. Standard Vibrato and delay. Bass is ok but by all means not brilliant, very limited. Poly section does very basic Pads which sound warm like the Strings. Always play an RS-505 with the Ensemble (Chorus) turned on. The sounds loos thier warmth and sound more cheesy. The Keyboard doesn't feel great. Its Roland's standard SH Keyboard which is very noisey and has that terrible low quallity feel. The RS-505 is a tank, its hard to destroy. Very vintage look. |
