I own both Akai and Emu and love them both. Very different and very useful for their individual flavors. One is not bettter than the other, but in my opinion, both are very useful. Chill!

..."the Akai´s warm sound to sterile clear E-mu converters..."????its totally bullshit idiot.anyone both own emu and akai knows which one warmer...surely emu.akai is no doubt stable and solid, but its never a warm sounding machine, its only crystal clear, but lacks the depth, unless u use the older 12-bit machines like s950/900/mpc60/60ii....cd3000i was only history, dated and useless.

It is possible to upgrade CD-3000i with sampling board (stereo input) and individual outputs (I have both upgrades). The memory is upgradable with 3rd party company board at max 32 Mb see http://www.firstpr.com.au/rwi/smem/ The greatest problem is hard to read display (something like Kurzweil K-2600 blue LCD would help). Anyway I preffer the Akai´s warm sound to sterile clear E-mu converters. It is more fun to work with samples on Akai than on my Kurzweil K-2000.
