This sampler is the S#%@!.. with akai.sys usb, man it is heaven. I can edit anything on my computer, add fx, and send right back over to the s5000, simple, has tons of out puts for sending out drums to get a truely professional drum mix. this is the bomb for drums, the ultimate source for drums.. This is one of the easiest synths to ever use.. I see them selling cheap on the net. Thinking about buy another..

I havent had many probs with the s5000. It does freeze up sometimes, usually when its receiveing a load of MIDI data and then you try and change from multi -> record or vice versa. It still carries on playing perfectly, just cant do anything withit in that state, but this has only happened 2 or 3 times since I got mine. The only other strange 'bug' is portamento sometimes seems to add some kind of tiny stereo delay to the sample!! ... this is pretty cool, however.

www.q-cut.net toons there, most have the s5000 doing something.

finally, after insane back orders and riddiculous time delays, the ak.sys software landed on my door step. i hope this proves to be the saving grace of the S5k, because up until now Akai has completely ignored basic sample transfer. It looks like the money I spent on the sampler 2 years ago will finally pay off. Too many bonuses added to mention, but my favorites are : it supports Recycle2, again- finally! , it will let me drag and drop files directly from my desktop into the sampler, I can create and edit programs and multis all on my computer.. all you need is to get the usb interface card for the S5 or S6 and you're sorted. Good luck getting that though, I ordered it in November and it arrived yesterday.. Akai really sux on that tip, but I must say they did deliver on the tech side of things.

ps-the S5k's sample LOOP/CHOPPER sucks.. i cut at the zero crossing and it still clicks.. or only after a while of using a sample will it begin to click.. what the heck?

I bought my S5, when it first hit the market. It did crash occasoinally, but I haven't had any problems since the 2.0 upgrade. Excellent DSP and filters. Manual not exactly bathroom reading material.
